The Government of Odisha, Tata Steel & Tata Trusts (Hockey Ace Foundation) have collaborated to initiate a three-pronged programme under the HPC banner of Govt. of Odisha to nurture hockey talent in the state, which is already a cradle of the sport. IndusInd Bank has come on board as the main sponsor for the Girls program.

The Hockey High Performance Centre was launched on 13th August 2019 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik and Tata Steel MD & CEO Shri TV Narendran.

Currently, the HPC has 38 resident cadets in the girls’ program and 36 in the boys’ program. For the HPC, the Regional Development Centres are the Sports Hostels of DSYS in Panposh, Sundargarh & Bhubaneswar. As part of the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey initiative, 14 grassroots centres have been established – 8 in Sundargarh, 2 in Sambalpur, and 1 each in Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Ranpur and Chatrapur.
